With the coming of Dr. Benjamin Wilberne McNease in 1926, Fayette became a leader in quality health care in rural Alabama. His personal dedication to the profession and the attitude he inspired in those who became his co-workers and proteges has blessed Fayette with exceptional doctors and health care professionals to this day.
Harold Reed, a former administrator of Fayette Medical Center, has written an easily read book about the men and women who took advantage of their gifts in order to overcome the difficulties of their times that they may leave us with an exceptional facility for a town our size.
This book about the medical history of Fayette County may be downloaded or read here in it’s entirety. The City of Fayette is indebted to Mr. Reed for making this book available to all its citizens that they may know what has come to them through the efforts and sacrifices of others.
