Mayberry in Alabama

Leda Gore, a writer from AL.COM, recently visited Fayette and other small towns across the state. Her following story indicates she appreciates the less stressful slower pace of life that can still be found in towns like Fayette.

In a perfect world, life would be like it was in Mayberry.

The fictional “Andy Griffith Show” town with Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, Barney and the gang is still seen on reruns of the classic 1960s TV show. But for those who long for simpler times, there are some places in Alabama that are downright Mayberry-ish.

Many large, busy cities are scattered across Alabama, in addition to the smaller towns that offer a much slower pace of life. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, whether it be relocating or simply visiting another area, Fayette is still a town where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
